What makes a good custom embroidered golf shirt

Golf clubs and societies order embroidered shirts regularly new members joining, annual kit refresh, society days, corporate events. The process is straightforward when you know what to look for. This guide covers the decisions that actually matter: fabric, placement, thread quality, and how to get the order right first time.

Fabric choice and why it matters for embroidery

The base fabric affects how embroidery sits and holds over time. A shirt that's too lightweight will pucker around the embroidery hoop marks. A heavy cotton will hold the stitch well but may not perform in warm conditions on the course.

For golf specifically, we recommend a mid-weight polyester-cotton blend or a performance polyester with moisture-wicking properties. The fabric needs to be stable enough to accept a clean embroidery stitch without distorting, and breathable enough to be comfortable over four hours of play.

Our golf club apparel range uses performance fabrics selected specifically for embroidery quality and on-course comfort. Every fabric option is tested in our Sialkot facility before it enters the range.

Embroidery placement options

Left chest is the standard for club crest embroidery it's where the eye naturally falls and works in any context, from the clubhouse to corporate events. For society days or team events, sleeve embroidery is increasingly popular as a secondary placement alongside a left chest logo.

Logo size matters more than most buyers realise. A design that works at A4 on a screen often needs significant simplification to embroider cleanly at 3–4 inches wide. Fine detail, thin lines, and small text all become problematic at small embroidery sizes. We review every artwork file before digitisation and flag anything likely to cause issues before production starts, not after.

Thread quality and colour accuracy

Thread type determines how the embroidery looks after repeated washing. We use high-grade polyester thread across all our golf club orders it's colourfast, resistant to UV fading, and holds its sheen after dozens of wash cycles. Rayon thread can look slightly richer initially but is less durable for sports use.

Colour matching to your club's specific brand colours is handled at the digitisation stage. We'll match to your Pantone reference or work from existing artwork to get as close as possible. For clubs with strict brand guidelines, we recommend ordering a pre-production sample to sign off the colour before the full run goes ahead.

Quantities, minimums, and pricing

Our minimum order quantity is 20 units per style. For most golf clubs and societies, this covers a typical new member intake or a society day order comfortably. Reorders for existing customers are available from 12 units, which works well for topping up mid-season.

Pricing depends on fabric choice, embroidery complexity, and quantity. Larger orders attract better unit pricing. All quotes include UK delivery and the digitisation of your embroidery file there are no hidden setup fees. Once your crest is digitised and stored on file, reorders are faster and require no additional design cost.

Lead times and what to plan for

Standard lead time from design approval is four to six weeks. A digital design proof is sent within 24 hours of receiving your brief nothing goes into production until you've approved it in writing. For society days or events with a fixed date, we recommend building in six to eight weeks from your initial enquiry to give comfortable headroom.

If you're ordering for a specific event, tell us the date when you submit your brief and we'll confirm at quote stage whether it's achievable. We give committed delivery dates, not estimates.
